Details on cash-job's no permit work performance, see: Sewage on my Lawn for 18 days; 47 days to repair almost to Code Water Quality Tests & 9/20 Sham Repair Appointment
► Kurt told me he didn't want to do plumbing anymore but a “cash job is hard to turn down."
It must have been too hard to get a permit for this job as none was obtained according to Saratoga’s Building Inspector, Lorelei Fuehrer.
► This off the books, no permit job was to be completed mid-May per Nick on 3/27. I was still texting Kurt through 6/17 about finishing the job. (see texts below)
► The outdoor water connection was done 9/08 - way too late & not "mid-May" to water the garden confirmed okay on 4/12.
I gave up on the garden 6/19 after the 4th bucket of water drawn after 3 clear looking buckets looked like this (opens in new tab)
► On 3/27 when I first saw the unit, I confirmed my initial 3/24 email requirement of laundry hook-ups. We discussed whether the dryer could be vented orventless. I was never informed if laundry hook-ups were connected. Even IF connected, they couldn’t have been used unless my goal was an all orange rustwardrobe & water pressure was likely inadequate to operate machine.
► Nick Kedrowski, General Agent/Five Skies, LLC, told me on 3/27, that the new pipes were to improve water pressure & the well water was clean & good. Arendtalso wrote that the pipe replacement was to improve water pressure in his reply to DATCP complaint. If the water pressure changed, it was not noticeable tominimal. I wrote to Nick that it was better except for the tub. Full truth is, the water pressure wasn't bad from the start except for the tub. It's unlikely that thesole reason for replacing the unit's pipe was to improve the water pressure.
► On 5/10, I informed Nick about the horrible move-in condition of the unit. I discovered the iron problem when I looked at the two toilet bowls & drew waterfrom every tap on my move-in of 4/27.
About the water, I wrote: I'm also quite concerned re the water as it continues to be orange rather than the usual clear as seen in the picture of the toilet bowl.It is particularly disconcerting that the orange water morphs into particles that land on the bottom of the glass. An explanation & rectification of this situationis necessary." (excerpt from pdf opens in new tab). He replied "The water line issues must be related to the pipes in the trailer itself and the new lines shouldremedy that."
magine that. "...must be related... should remedy that." Must be. Should. They KNEW there was an iron problem and hired a plumber off the books & without apermit to install lines that SHOULD REMEDY THAT. But the new pipes didn't remedy that. So what did they do about that result? Nothing.
► On 6/30, I wrote: I am pretty far beyond merely “disappointed” at this point. Please see pages 3-5 re orange water, not finished pipes.I waited day after day for Kurt to show up – to no avail.
► On 7/01, he replied (excerpt): If the water remains unimproved, it may be necessary to replace lines below ground. We will determine how best to approach thatsituation if the need arises but if that is the case, we may have to terminate your lease because we would not continue to rent the unit until that issue
is remedied and it may take a considerable amount of time to remedy.
MAY HAVE TO TERMINATE YOUR LEASE BECAUSE WE WOULD NOT CONTINUE TO RENT.........63 days after I moved from Minneapolis, they "may have to terminate" my lease.
They made no effort at any point to assess the situation because they had already defined the problem as early as March when they decided to replace the linesbecause new lines to the unit "should remedy that." I suppose it might have been something else, but no assessment of the situation was ever requested.Without any correction of any of the necessary repairs, they demanded full rent for August having done NOTHING for 56 days: from 7/17-9/10.From 3/24's first contact re the trailer's availability *now* through my signature on the lease on 4/16, he never told me that the new pipes were being installedbecause they "should" correct the grotesque iron problem. I could not make an informed decision because Nick chose not to provide the necessary information.
► From 5/03 or so, “cash-job” texted me that he would be there tomorrow, and tomorrow, and tomorrow….no show after no show thru 6/17. Nick said the jobwould be completed by mid-May.Cash-job carelessly left the bathtub panel loose allowing my 16 yr old 100% indoor cat to escape for almost 3 days. On a drop-by unannounced visit, hewouldn’t wait for me to lock the cats down safely: my old cat panicked & escaped again. My presence at any of his visits obviously was necessary for the wellbeing of my two cats. Given his erratic & irresponsible behavior via text and in person, my intuition told me there was something 'off' about the guy & I couldnot trust him alone in the unit.
► Over the 39 days I waited for him to keep an appointment - no cancel, no reschedule, just another no show - my temporary Insurance Producer license expiredso I was unable to work in Wisconsin OR Minnesota after June 18. Just my monthly social security check for income now & no way to reinstate (see home page).
► My communication with Kurt the cash-job plumber was via text only & are posted below the newspaper article re his arrest for felony stalking from 5/09-6/05throughout the pipe install 5/03-6/17.
6/06 he promised he would "get it done" over the weekend but failed to text or arrive - just another no show. I learned later that he had been arrested for felony stalking & appeared in court from jail on 6/13; a search warrant was issued on 6/15. His texts to me over this time frame said he was in bed with a bad back(below). There is a second arrest for burglary, misappropriation of ID to obtain money, and theft on July 2; 3rd arrest 7/2019 for domestic abuse. My intuition about this guy proved 100% correct.
